The Veil of Transcendence

The Veil of Transcendence represents a profound exploration of the human journey between life and death, a dialogue between the physical and the spiritual. Rooted in ancient traditions yet reimagined for a modern context, the sculpture combines the solidity of classical form with the intricate, tactile quality of hand-stitched embroidery. The head, reminiscent of ancient funerary art, is wrapped in a delicate shroud of embroidery that evokes the reverence of mummification rituals. The threads bind not only the surface but also the physical and metaphysical, symbolising the transition from life to the afterlife. This work captures the fragility of the human condition, with each stitch serving as a metaphor for the tension between permanence and impermanence. The patterns, inspired by ancient symbols of life, death, and rebirth, are woven with upcycled materials that connect past traditions to contemporary values. By merging sculpture and textile art, I challenge conventional boundaries, creating a piece that speaks to transformation. The embroidered head becomes a symbol of evolution—rooted in the past, yet gazing toward the future, embodying the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth
